‘Get Acquainted‘ at League of Women Voters
League of Women Voters of Marion (LWVM) will host a Wine and Cheese social meeting Thursday, September 9, 5:30 p.m. in the United Way Conference Room, Suite 100, 125 Executive Drive (old Social Security Building). Although all League meetings are open to the public, LWVM is extending a special invitation to anyone who has a special interest in League’s work, or would like to learn more about League, or are interested in becoming a member.
A brief presentation that features A Fast Facts Look at League of Women Voters, will provide basic information about National, State and Marion’s local League. Guests will receive a folder with League informational materials.
To add to the festivities, 3 special historical milestones will be acknowledged: the 90th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gave to women the right to vote after a 70 year struggle with this issue; the 90th anniversary of the founding of the League of Women Voters of the United States; and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the League of Women Voters of Marion.
