Country Wraps Up Main Stage Popcorn Fest Entertainment

Filed Under:

Country artist Jason Michael Carroll will take the main stage of the Marion Popcorn Festival on Saturday at 8:30pm. The performance, as always, will be free of charge. The Showcase Stage, in front of City Hall features dancers and singers throughout the day ending with live music from The Crissinger Band featuring Jimmy Crissinger.

After fronting a couple of local bands and encouraged by his mother, Carroll entered and won a local Gimme the Mic competition in 2004.  That led to his discovery by manager Rusty Harmon (who had produced Hootie & the Blowfish) and, by 2005, Carroll was a regular in the Nashville clubs and opening for established country stars such as Brad Paisley and Neal McCoy.

A year later Carroll had signed with Arista and released his first album, Waitin’ In the Wind.  It was a rousing success for a new artist topping the charts with nearly a half million in sales, three hit singles (all of which he wrote or co-wrote), a gold ringtone certification, and opening spots on some of country music’s hottest tours, including Brooks & Dunn, Trace Adkins, Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood, and Martina McBride.

Carroll’s second album in 2009, Growing Up Is Getting Old, picked up where the first left off spawning two hit singles and climbing into Country’s Top 10.  He also released a Christmas album in November of 2010 with both new songs and old standards; and has a 12-song album set to release July 25.

Fans attending the Festival will hear Carroll’s chart toppers “Alyssa Lies”, “Livin’ Our Love Song”, “I Can Sleep When I’m Dead”, “Where I’m From”, and “Hurry Home”, as well as his new single, “Numbers”, released this spring.
