ODOT Asks Drivers "Don’t Crowd the Plow"

The Ohio Department of Transportation is asking driver to exercise caution as the weather takes a wintery turn. ODOT says there will be lots of plows on all interstates, state and US Routes in Central Ohio this afternoon and all night long.

The number of plows include:

  • 61 plows on duty in Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway and Union counties through the evening rush hour.
  • The number jumps to 70 plows at 8:00pm Thursday evening.
  • And then 118 ODOT snow plows on the road from midnight to 7:00am Friday.

Those numbers are only for ODOT. City, County, and Township plows will also be out.

Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing causing wet, snowy roads to become slick and icy.

ODOT Transportation managers will monitor road conditions, forecasts and use ODOT technology to determine how many plows are needed during the day on Friday.

Drivers are reminded, "In ice and snow...take it slow," and to give ODOT snow plow drivers plenty of room to plow and salt so roads are safe and passable.
